Audi RS4 Avant (2012)

Audi RS4 Avant this is a 444bhp super real. This is the MK3 RS4 Avant, and will only be available as an Avant (the RS4 first is real-only twin-turbo V6, the V8-engined two brilliant rival for M3 and are available in the guise of salon and Avant).

RS4 Avant is effectively a five-door version of the RS5 Coupe.On the one hand it's a good thing: there is a high-revving 4.2-liter V8, four-wheel drive, and a smart seven-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic gearbox. That means 444bhp is produced at 8250rpm, plus a chunky £ 317 ft from 4000 to 6000rpm. 0-62mph dispatched in a dog-slamming-against-the-rear-window of 4.7 seconds, top speed limited to 155mph, and if you give Audi a little more money, this limit can be increased up to 174mph.Official fuel consumption 25.7mpg.

So what's the bad news?
The bad news is that the RS5 Coupe is not much cop.Exceptional level of quality, such as high-speed stability, and you can go by quickly with minimal fuss. But it's not entertaining.We're not talking about the next slide which is not relevant to either 99% of the population, not the way the wheel is thick and dark that makes even handle a roundabout with no joy.

Besides R8 supercar, Audi RS4 is the best last for generations, so this third-gen über-wagon has a lot to live up to.
What else do we know about the new RS4 Avant Audi?

Quattro four-wheel drive, of course, standard, with a crown gear center differential is standard sports 40:60 front-to-rear power split, but with the ability to transmit torque to the front of 70% or 85% to the rear. And there is also a torque vectoring, with electronic braking the wheels to reduce slippage, while the optional Sport differential to distribute power between the rear wheels.
Chassis-wise Avant RS4 sits 20mm lower than the regular A4 Avant, as well as 20mm and 24mm longer thanks to a wider-specific RS4 bodykit. Rear-view mirror and silver oval twin exhausts also marks the RS model. Ten-spoke forged aluminum wheels are standard 19in, with 20in rims as an option. There are also upgraded brakes (365mm front discs) with 380mm front discs are carbon-ceramic extra expensive.
Select Hard Audi system is standard-fit and offer Comfort, Auto and Dynamic mode for steering, S-Tronic box 'and the throttle, while the Dynamic Ride Control (DRC) is an option and the corresponding diagonal features shock absorbers to help stability when cornering.
RS interior features a number of upgrades, from sport seats to the carbon trim, a handful of badges RS4, while the chunky bucket seats are optional extras.
Audi UK has not announced pricing, but the feeling on £ 55K-£ 60K when new RS4 Avant arrived on our shores later in 2012.
